PSME Celebrates its 45th year (1971-2016) and Holds a Tribute to Dean Corazon S. Maceda a Founder and First PSME President.
The highly successful Anniversary Celebration and Tribute, was held on Friday October 21, 2016 at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP College of Music, Diliman, Quezon City.
The whole-day event featured a symposium "Research Perspectives on Contextual Music Education"
Speakers were: Dr. Eufracio Abaya ethnographic anthropologist of the UP College of Eduation, Prof. Mauricia Borromeo, Prof. Jocelyn T. Guadalupe of UP College of Music and Prof. Dolores T. Andres of the UST Conservatory of Music.
"Remembering Dean Corazon S. Maceda" highlighting the founder and first president's achievements, writings, and song compositions was delivered by Prof. Leticia G. Del Valle, PSME President.
Response to the tribute was given by Dr. Loreto Gloria, past president and a protegee of the late Dean Maceda.
The one-hour afternoon Musicale mostly featured performances of Himig Kawayan ensembles, showcasing the signature project of the PSME----promoting the study and performance of Philippine folk music on native bamboo orchestra.
The General Assembly of PSME members followed by an election of new PSME board members ended the day's events, capped by the singing of the PSME hymn.
